We put this on top of a desk from Ikea. The colour matches perfectly. It's not too far forward and has plenty of room for items. It's also not locked together, so you can slide it to make the shelves wider. If you wanted to use some screws or strong glue, you could probably make some very quirky shelves.

Very easy to assembly. Perfect for a small or medium desk, where it can be adjustable anytime. Though plates came with some "shadows" like stains. I had to use a cloth and clean it thoroughly. It looks sturdy, very functional, and excellent for organization on a desk.
